Adopting a virtual pet is a fairly simple task.  No long list of forms to fill out.  No waiting endless months for the phone to ring.  Depending on the virtual pet you choose to adopt, it can be “in your arms” less than an hour after your decision.

First of all, decide which virtual pet is the right one for you.  Pick an animal or creature you would like to have as your virtual pet.  Then pick the kind of virtual pet you would like to care for, would you prefer one that is self-sustaining or one that requires a degree of attention, love, and maybe “food” to stay alive.  Another thing you must decide is where your pet will live; you may need a website for your virtual pet to “live” in.  Last of all, do you want a free pet, or are you willing to pay for one.  Free virtual pets are great, like anything that’s free, but as is well known, you get what you pay for.

Once you have decided on the type of animal and level of caring that is right for you, it’s time to start looking for the one that catches your eye.  For instance, just knowing you want a dog that doesn’t need food three times a day doesn’t mean you are going to want the first dog you see.  Once you find one that you think is the one for you, double check what it takes to keep him alive. Many virtual pet “adoption centers” allow customization of the animal or creature.  You may be able to pick the color or other attributes of your preference.
